Meet Our Design Team:
Owner & Lead Designer: Jessica Tompane
Jessica started the firm after realizing a large gap existed in the design industry, as the market consisted primarily of only high-end, luxury designers.
She came to the conclusion that design doesn’t have to be just high-end; but can also be practical. Jessica prides herself and the firm in being able to accomplish both practical designs and elite designs, with the goal to always be resourceful, creative and deliberate in how you design a space or a home. We morph each design to the exact needs and desires of our clients. No project is ever the same.
Jessica received two degrees at the University of Colorado in Business Marketing and Spanish. After working in the advertising corporate world, Jessica realized following her life-long passion for design could be attainable through a leap of faith and hard work. She began pursuing the technical education and experience in design prior to eventually starting JHID.
Through her technical education in interior drafting, interior computer modeling, sustainable design, commercial and residential codes, materials and resources, and design theory, she adds know-how to an innate sense of design. Jessica can accomplish literally any “style” or “look”, but personally loves the use of color, and believes that we can always find inspiration through nature in any scheme.
Jessica and her husband currently reside in Point Loma, San Diego, CA. They are very active in their home church, and have a passion for God, life, family, friends and serving others.
Design Assistant: Amy McKnight
Meet JHID’s Design Assistant, Amy McKnight, a passionate and creative designer with an keen eye for creating aesthetic and functional spaces!
Amy is a member with the American Society of Interior Designers, is currently pursuing her qualifications for the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ). She has a detailed and organized approach to creating new life in any space, whether in a complete remodel, or a simple room make over.
Amy grew up in Southern California and started her career as a real estate agent. She soon realized her true passion in interior design from the joy she received in tailor fitting clients to their new homes. Thus, Amy went back to school and graduated from Westwood College of Design with a bachelor degree in Interior Design. There, she learned the critical skills in computer aided drafting, space planning and architectural drafting and design.
Amy works very intimately with JHID’s clients, and aids in the creation of the design, produces JHID’s CAD drawings, sources design components, and manages JHID’s purchasing for clients.

Jody E: “Jessica was extremely helpful, professional, efficient and a joy to work with. Taking the circa 1929, 13 seat diner and transforming it into a colorful, classy Mexican/American style cafe was no easy feat. She has a great work ethic and is a natural project manager, along with quick wit, bubbly personality, that complimented my graphic design input. The job was done quickly, creatively, and within budget….The “before and after” photos are like “Night and Day”"
Shannon N: “Jessica helped me fix up my room while my husband was away with the Navy. I wanted to surprise my husband with an organized space that felt like a “mini-vacation” when he entered. Jessica helped me move the furniture around in a way that I could not have come up on my own. The new position of my bed shows off the unique angles of the roof and makes the room look more interesting. We went with a “posh-cabin feel”, which my husband loved! She also helped me set up pictures and a mirror on an overwhelming size of a wall. The pictures are clustered perfectly and the wall looks professionally done. Jessica is a very fun person to be around, but it also very diligent and hardworking. I highly recommend her for any design job and I believe she can make your home or workspace a better representation of who you are- or at least only your best attributes.”
Monica B: “Jessica helped do our baby’s nursery and son’s big boy room, they are amazing!! She is affordable, very creative, quick turnaround time, and has a wonderful personality!!”
Lindsy D: “Jessica did a great job re-vamping my room. I had pretty much no idea what I wanted. All I knew was that I needed a complete change from the way it was. She did so well at taking the little information I gave her and turning my room into what I never even knew I wanted, but what I absolutely love. Every time I walk into my room I’m happy! I’d recommend her work to anyone. Not only is she talented and creative, but also easy to work with.”
Dessie J: “I was referred by a friend of a friend & was thinking this girl was from Coronado & would probably charge me a fortune just for advise. I live on a budget & simply needed help in decorating with things I already owned so that my husband would be surprised coming home after a long deployment. At our first meeting, I was the one surprised at the efficiency & knowledge Jessica had when we talked about what I wanted to do. She suggested I opt for the Staging for Life service & that is what I did. In just a few short hours, she was able to use pictures, art, candles, family photo’s, & a shelf to completely transform my living/dining room into a comfortable & elegant space I barely recognized as my old living room. I am very pleased with the results & plan to hire her again to help decorate my kids rooms.”
